playing the jack of spades, discarding the five of clubs from the north
hand. Declarer then plays a heart;
West must cover with the king or else Declarer's job is easy. When West covers, the trick is won with
North's ace of hearts. Declarer
cannot continue hearts due to the blockage, therefore he must play the club
queen or jack. The key is that on
this trick Declarer must discard his remaining heart. Now even if West exits a heart Declarer
will be able to win in the north hand with the seven and cash his remaining
good club. |
